Is PLAB always required for a Pakistani doctor?
Not always. PLAB is a common route, but the GMC also recognizes some alternative evidence and postgraduate qualifications. The GMC must confirm which route applies.
What are the 2026 PLAB fees?
From 1 April 2026, the GMC lists £283 for PLAB 1 and £1,036 for PLAB 2. Travel, English testing and other document costs are separate.
Does passing PLAB guarantee a UK job or visa?
No. Registration, employment and immigration are separate processes with separate decision makers.
